Training/Instruction
I
offer students of all levels from beginner to advanced
and professionls a variety of training options ranging
from a regular lesson program, concentrated training
programs, the option of participating in clinics with
my trainer, Stephan Kiesewetter, and the opportunity
to train in Germany on wonderful FEI schoolmasters.
I am actively involved with the clinics and training
in Germany so that there is consistent follow up at
home.
My program focuses on the correct
training of both horse and rider. Working with Stephan
closely has taught me the benefits of the successful
German Training System and how important it is to train
each horse based on their physical and mental capabilities.
My training program stays absolutely true to this training
system. We do not take short cuts to get the horse and/or
rider into the show ring! The horse's health and well
being as an individual are priority one. This program
produces horses with very solid training and students
who know how to ride correctly and handle a variety
of training situations. My students learn to really
ride and train their horses in and out of the show ring
not just pilot the horse around a test. I also work
to match the goals, abilities and resources of the rider
to the horse's capabilities and be able to work with
any combination of these variables.
I
am dedicated to always improving myself and becoming
the best rider, teacher and trainer possible. Working
with Stephan extensively in Germany for the past five
years has given me tremendous insight into and experience
with the German Training System and the ability to live
the system from inside. Because of this experience I
was able to pass both of the USDF Certified Instructor
exams on the same weekend which has only been accomplished
by a handful of other instructors. I now work with other
trainers to help them pass the certification exams and
I am in the process of becoming a USDF Instructor Certification
Faculty member. I also spend a good bit of time in Germany
every year training horses under Stephan's watchful
eye in Germany. I've quickly learned the benefit of
working with a variety of horses with an even broader
variety of training challenges needing to be addressed.
These horses are typical horses with training issues
not the fancy easy to train ones (although I do get
to ride those too!). The benefits of spending this time
in Germany are huge in terms of giving me a very broad
skill set! This is simply not possible to do in the
US!
My
training facility is located at the beautiful Southpointe
Farm in Memphis, TN. We are excited about this move
as it gives us more stalls and easier accessibility
from the Germantown/Collierville area and is very easy
to get to from Highway 385. Our program offers an exceptional
level of care including high quality feed, individual
turnout, grooming and excellent farrier and vet care.
