About Kim Gentry

Kim is a classically trained dressage competitor, instructor and trainer with a strong record of achievement and has ridden in a variety of disciplines since the age of five. She was an active rider and competitor throughout her teenage years and represented her riding club and Singapore in numerous competitions in the Far East including finishing second in the Far East Pony Club Championships in 1979.

Kim’s diverse riding background includes eventing, show jumping, amateur flat and steeplechase racing and riding polo ponies for the King of Malaysia. Kim is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and a successful FEI trainer and competitor with her self trained horse, Concerto.

She currently competes several horses at the FEI levels including her own horses and horses owned by clients. Kim has successfully trained students and horses to FEI and has successfully competed her self trained horse through Intermediate 1 and is schooling Grand Prix with him.

Kim has developed a successful teaching and training business in the Memphis area after leaving an executive level marketing career. Kim holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA. Kim’s most outstanding skill is the drive for continuous improvement in her riding and teaching skills. Kim has trained with Stephan Kiesewetter in Germany for the past 6 years.

She trains in Germany several times a year on a variety of horses to challenge and build her skills, is a USDF Certified Instructor Training – Fourth Level and has successfully graduated from the USDF “L” program for judge training.

Kim’s goal is to develop correctly trained dressage horses regardless of their breeding and develop their full potential given the horse's physical and mental capabilities and the resources available. As an instructor, she strives to create independent and successful students in or out of the show ring.

“I left a marketing executive position with a Fortune 50 company after a 15 year marketing career to focus exclusively on teaching and training dressage. I am committed to providing my students and their horses with the highest level of training by continuing to improve my own skills through work with top international trainers."
